Deedee Bernhardt, Artist
Deedee Bernhardt is an oil painter who enjoys capturing both moods and feelings on canvas. Solitary figures, empty cityscapes, and quiet moments all find different ways to interject themselves into her body of work. She especially loves playing with the contrast of bright lights and deep shadows. Shiny AirStream campers, vintage cars, and sunny buildings often find themselves as subjects in her paintings. Deedee specializes in very small work which she has dubbed "Tiny Paintings". Subject matter in the "Tiny Paintings" include portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, still-life scenes, campers, and figurative works. These paintings, about the size of a credit card, have been purchased by collectors from around the United States.
Deedee has a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Taylor University. After a long hiatus while raising kids, Deedee jumped back into art about seven years ago, studying under local artist Greg Storer for several years. Dee Dee has had the privilege of two solo shows at the Harrison Center in Indianapolis and has been part of countless juried group shows. She is semi-retired, enjoys travel, autumn, dogs (the bigger the better), coffee dates with her husband, time with family and friends, quiet moments with God, and good old-fashioned people watching.
