In the artist's words ...

High in the mountains in Slovenia, about an hour south of Austria, there's an area called Velika Planina, in which rests an historic shepherd's village. This very unusual area is accessed only by cable car and then a ski lift. On a recent trip to the area, we rented one of the newly remodeled shepherd's huts for an incredible two day stay. On our trip up the mountain in the cable car we went through the clouds and beheld the stunning view that is captured in this painting.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Life in transition fascinates me. It’s where things can bump into each other in unexpected and surprising ways—especially when nature, agriculture, community and labor intersect, or sometimes collide. So wherever my wanderings take me, I look for things that are experiencing some sort of transition. They’re usually found off the beaten path or along the edges. Each of my paintings tells a unique story, or perhaps better said, is a unique story that is captured at a brief point in time. I am usually in some state of wonderment that I can spend a good amount of my time painting light and nature!
