Chris Krupinski, Artist
Art is a key element in Chris's life. She has been drawing and painting all her life but discovered watercolors in the mid-1980s and has had a passion for the medium ever since. Chris has achieved signature status in numerous watercolor societies nationwide and has won many “Best of Show” awards and top prizes in the top-recognized juried shows, both nationally and internationally. Chris’s artwork has been jury selected to exhibit in China, Turkey, Taiwan, Greece, Holland, Italy, and Russia.
Chris is a Dolphin Fellow of the American Watercolor Society, signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Rocky Mountain Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America (Master Status), Watercolor West-Master, and Allied Artists, to name a few. She has been published in major watercolor publications and has been a featured artist in numerous leading national art magazines. Her work has been in international exhibitions in China, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, Greece, Holland, Italy, and Turkey. Her watercolors are hung in several corporate collections and are cherished additions to the finest of private collections.
Flexibility enters the picture as Krupinski composes her paintings. “I love the flexibility of being able to create my own designs,” she says of the still life paintings that have earned her 250 awards in shows throughout the world. A graphic designer by trade for many years, she delights in placing everything just so and then capturing her creation with a passion that has her working in her studio seven days a week.
Chris's watercolors are created with special consideration to detail. By focusing much of her attention to the smallest detail, the viewer is drawn into the intricacies of her work. Dynamic light and shadow treatments are prominent statements in her paintings. The play of lights and darks develop effective abstract design. Emphasizing these two elements has enabled her to create powerfully expressive still lifes and bold compositions.
